Prevail
By Paula Kubacka
In this foreign land, an alien must adapt.
It can’t ask questions, especially in a language nobody understands. An alien must know its place, so it never crosses another line, especially that of a border.
This alien might never dream again – dreams are a dangerous thing – this alien might dream of its planet and the way of its planet; it might dream too often. Why dream of something it left? Why dream of something that failed it?
Why dream in a tongue it has no use for anymore?
Are you going to call your alien ship and come back to your alien planet? This land will never be yours, this foreign land of yours.
